DURATION OF THE PROGRAM

SPECIFIC lasts 3 years and you can choose to attend 1, 2 or 3 years, with progressive opportunities and benefits.
In the season 2026/27, the program runs from September 2026 to May 2027.

OPPORTUNITIES

At the end of the first year, among those who advance to the second year, up to a maximum of 8 dancers will be selected to:

join PYC Company directed by Loris Petrillo;join Compagnia Petrillo Danza directed by Loris Petrillo;

access the summer internship with Twain Centro di Produzione Danza directed by Loredana Parrella;

join Cie Twain Physical Dance Theatre directed by Loredana Parrella;access the multidisciplinary advanced training path Bo.A.T., curated by Anonima Teatri, focused on contemporary theatre and dramaturgy.

In the third year, the direction guides students towards internships at European companies and theatres.

A PATH TO FREEDOM

SPECIFIC trains dancers who are in full command of their own body, technically prepared, physically strong and with a remarkable physical and expressive impact.

During the program, dancers approach the study of movement through the exploration of the infinite possibilities of the body, in a specific and gradual process that accompanies them on a journey of self-discovery and towards their full potential.

The method urges dancers to rediscover the infinite and extraordinary possibilities suggested by the Universe, guiding them towards a higher level of performance by moving away from the rote learning of pre-established and ineffective dance concepts.

It is not a new technique, nor a new style. It is a more concrete approach that invites dancers to broaden their perspective when facing different technical challenges. As a result, they can move away from lifeless techniques that restrict and limit their freedom of expression.

It is a process of awareness through which dancers develop an autonomous management of their own body — conceived as a 'machine' — subject to ongoing attempts to overcome technical difficulties.

Self-experimentation is the only proof of functionality: if applying a specific notion leads to an effective result, then it works and can be adopted.

Dancers now have at their disposal a wide range of universally applicable notions that allow them to handle their bodies with greater freedom. Once these universal rules are established, dancers are called upon to engage fully — bringing in their emotional range as a necessary component of the body-machine. It is through this process that the unique and personal character of each dancer shapes and colours the movement, infusing it with wholeness, concreteness and their own essence.

A truly original dance — impossible to categorise within the landscape of existing styles, yet intrinsically linked to the true nature of that specific dancer on stage.

Milano Contemporary Ballet is opening applications for its International Training Program 2026/27, an intensive professional program for contemporary dancers seeking technical growth, artistic development, and international experience.

Directed by Roberto Altamura, the program is based in Milan and welcomes dancers from all over the world into a dynamic environment focused on creation, research, and professional preparation.

ABOUT THE PROGRAM

The International Training Program has been active for over a decade and has hosted dancers from Europe, Asia, and beyond, creating a strong environment of cultural exchange and artistic dialogue.

Many dancers who trained with us are now working in professional companies in Italy and abroad, including:
Déjà Donné, Balletto Teatro di Torino, EgriBianco Danza, No Gravity Dance Company, Kamea Dance Company, Tanz Theater Pforzheim, Mainfranken Theater Würzburg, Biennale di Venezia, among others.

Milano Contemporary Ballet offers not only technical training, but also a space where dancers can grow artistically and personally through collaboration with international choreographers and guest teachers.

Equilibrio Dinamico Ensemble is the first Master’s programme in Italy in Contemporary Dance Performance, validated by the Northern School of Contemporary Dance.

The programme offers an intensive experience in creation, performance, and collaboration through a compelling triple bill by internationally renowned choreographers: Marcos Morau, Roberta Ferrara, and Li Kehua. Participants become part of a post-graduate company, working closely with leading artists while engaging with diverse and highly contemporary choreographic languages.

Classes are led by a faculty of international guest artists, bringing a wide range of practices, perspectives, and methodologies from across the global dance scene. This dynamic environment supports dancers in developing their artistic identity, expanding their movement vocabulary, and strengthening both technical and performance skills.

As part of the programme, dancers also take part in an international touring experience, performing across a variety of venues and contexts, and gaining valuable stage experience.

Through intensive studio practice, research-led learning, and production processes, performers gain hands-on experience that reflects the realities of the professional field, preparing them for a successful transition into the dance industry.

VISTA17 DANCE TRAINING AND CREATION

Audition for VISTA17 Dance Training and Creation

An exclusive program dedicated to dancers aged 19 and above. The course stands out for its cross-disciplinary vision, embracing multiple choreographic languages and moving beyond stylistic labels in favor of authentic, versatile, and contemporary artistic development.

The program runs from Monday to Friday, with 5 hours of daily training, including classes in classical dance, contemporary, hip hop, Gaga, improvisation, floorwork, Pilates and conditioning, and acroflow.

Additionally, dancers will be involved in eight choreographic residencies, exploring creative processes, unique styles, and the artistic language of both emerging and established choreographers. These experiences will culminate in three performances presented during the year at Vista17 Spazio Performativo.

New programme 2026/2027

Art Factory International is a professional intensive training project created by BACH Leggere Strutture, a centre dedicated to arts and culture in the city of Bologna.

The program focuses on younger dancers eager to broaden and deepen their own technical and artistic training in fields such as dance, choreography and composition.

The program is structured from October 2026 to May 2027 in a intensive months of training , involves daily training from Monday to Friday from 9 am to 3:30 pm in classical and contemporary dance through a teaching plan led by artists and teachers, expert in the field and working towards technique strengthening, along with pursuing a higher level of awareness in regard to one’s physical strength and the creative movement. The training includes a variety of curriculum classes everyday of ballet, contemporary dance, floorwork, counter technique, capoeira, composition, repertoire, improvisation, hiphop and urban dance.

The A.F.I. platform aims at creating a personal formation course where the participant contemplates on constructing and setting in motion the artistic and professional self.

Moreover, the platform is a host to monthly somatic seminars, reasearch, composition and management seminars. The classes will focus on exchange of virtuous practices by drawing from different professionals with the intention of shaping the participant’s personality and competences, as well as broadening the artist’s new training horizons.

The A.F.I. Platform created a performative project within its spaces “Spazio CRUDO”, designed to host projects, previews and work-in-progress by international artists in residency at Leggere Strutture, in addition to accommodating ‘open door’ performances enacted by AFI participants.

ANFIBIA unfolds through an intensive and dynamic calendar: daily physical practice, immersive modules, theoretical laboratories, practical explorations, and performative sharings intertwine in a dramaturgical flow that evolves alongside the participants. The training moves fluidly between technical work and poetic research, between discipline and intuition, between structure and creative impulse.
Each day is conceived as a time of opening—towards listening, risk, and transformation. Disciplines are not taught in parallel but constantly contaminate each other, generating new, unclassifiable, and fluid forms. The performer is not trained to replicate, but to build: visions, devices, questions.

Each participant is guided, supported, and provoked to develop a personal or collective performative project from the initial spark to public sharing. The project

The project lasts 3 months, from September to December 2026, and is aimed at actors, movers, acrobats, and circus artists aged 18 and over who want to develop a clear and structured physical language through solid physical and performative training and gain the tools to approach multidisciplinary professional projects.

The intensive program includes movement disciplines and physical practices such as physical theatre, vocal training, contemporary dance, elements of acrobatics, dramaturgical work, improvisation, and rhythm, which allow physical performers to develop coordination, stamina, and movement quality, while providing practical tools to support and sustain action on stage through the body.

A performance is scheduled at the end of the path.

Opportunity

At the end of the program, the Artistic Direction of Twain Centro Produzione Danza will award short creative residencies to selected participants,(period will be agreed upon during the selection process) for the development of personal projects, after selection and evaluation of the project proposal.
Each residency will conclude with a public sharing and an exchange with the local community and performing arts professionals.

The study practices will be led by Livia Massarelli (The Mindful Dancer), Roberta Ferrara (Pathway Practice), and Silvia Sisto (BalletPilates), offering a journey that intertwines technique, awareness, and personal research.

The complementary disciplines will explore dramaturgy, lighting design, hatha yoga, and capoeira, expanding the dancer’s perception of the body, space, and stage.

The program also includes masterclasses with Filippo Buonamassa (former dancer with GöteborgsOperans Danskompani) and Gianni Notarnicola (former dancer with Batsheva Dance Company), as well as a Creative Week entirely dedicated to videodance, curated by Tonia Laterza.

The Professional Development section will support dancers in preparing their professional materials — videos, CVs, showreels, and motivational letters — to face international auditions and open calls.

Developed in collaboration with VERVE / Northern School of Contemporary Dance (Leeds), the project offers international exchanges, performance opportunities in Italy and abroad, and access to professional and creative networks across Europe.

As an intern you will be part of several projects at Broedplaats Bogota as well as dive into the process of film making and performances for our Short Dance Collective. We are looking for recent graduates, fourth year students or Dance Master students, preferably living in the Netherlands. We are looking for dancers with a strong interest in interdisciplinary performances, film projects and location projects.

Dance in Art invites dancers to audition for DiA Stepping Stone, to get the opportunity to refine their technique and improve dance performance capabilities necessary to further themselves in their dance careers. Focussing on audition training, one on one coaching, intensive rehearsal periods and career management.

Our DiA Stepping Stone program is specially for graduates who are looking for guidance to find their place in the dance industry and in the meantime want to focus on performing.

During the DiA Stepping Stone program we guide graduate dancers towards their professional goal through coaching, audition training, technique classes, intensive rehearsals and performances. Coaching and audition training are customized to each dancer’s physical and emotional needs.

This program is divided in 3 terms, partially online and partially at the Dance in Art studios. This way the dancers have enough freedom to audition for companies and travel. During your time at Dance in Art studios, you will be working on 2 or 3 choreographies and performing the works by the end of the month. By the end of the program the dancers will have performed between 6 to 9 different choreographies, will have developed a structured CV with a motivation letter and a professional dance portfolio with photo and film material.

APAD Dance Professional Training Course DIRECTED BY ALEX ATZEWI

The APAD training course is a new dance study method aimed at dancers aged 18 and over who wish to consolidate and expand their training in the world of dance. The course starts in October and ends at the end of May with a subsequent end-of-year exam which will be attended by the teachers met during the course.
The program includes two lessons of classic daily (morning and afternoon), one of contemporary in the morning and a laboratory / duets in the afternoon.
The student will also have two afternoons weekly for individual study and to focus on their needs and to fix certain important concepts learn in the lessons.

The course includes monthly meetings with national and international choreographers, freelance dancers and important teachers.

It is also possible to be chosen to participate in national and international competitions, essential for the growth of the dancer, or selected (as apprenticeship) to become part of the ADC company directed by Alex Atzewi, with the aim of making professional experiences live in theater and in special places, being able to get to know and join dance stars such as: Beatrice Carbone, Leon Cino, Sabrina Brazzo, Andrea Volpintesta, Fernando Troya, Roberta Siciliano, Petra Conti, Marco Agostino, Antonella Albano, Davit Galstyan, Amilcar Moret Gonzalez, Virginia Tomarchio, Letizia Giuliani, Luana Damiano, Giulia Paris, Vito Conversano, Annalisa Cianci, Antonina Chapkina, Stefania Figliossi, Giuseppe Picone.

SHAKTI INTENSIVE PROGRAMME

We are proud to present a project that will take place over two weeks of intensive creative development in July and September 2025.

The goal is the creation of two choreographic pieces that will be presented at a renowned festival. We will give more information about it at the subscription.

During the residency period, auditions will be held for the Shakti collective, winner of the choreographic call for entries in the Danza InModena emerging dance companies section.

7/11 July 2025

During the week-long July programme, choreographers Federica Sorrentino and Guia Meucci will guide participants through an immersive exploration and development process. The week will be dedicated to creating the choreographic material.

1-5 September 2025

During this week, the creative process will be led by choreographers Anna Viotto and Elke Grigolato.

The week will be enhanced by the training and artistic advice of Roberta Ferrara, founder, artistic director and choreographer of Equilibrio Dinamico also Educational Leader for the programmes training programmes attached to the company and Freelance choreographer and pedagogue.

Participation is open to all interested dancers.

Dancers must apply by sending a video of a solo no longer than two minutes, showing their technical level and aptitude for creative work.The selection will be open to all interested dancers, and will be limited in number to guarantee high quality work and personalised attention.

You must be available for all weeks indicated, as well as the weeks from 3 to 8 November 2025, when the two productions will be staged.

The purpose of the project is to provide dancers with an intensive learning experience that will help them grow artistically.

The project will stimulate the artistic growth of participants through an intensive learning experience.

The final result will be two performances, the result of two weeks of research work, at the above-mentioned festival. The festival will also host the finalised work of the Shakti collective following the residency obtained in the emerging companies section of the danza InModena dance call.
