Tell us about your dance journey
My dance journey started 1987 in a private school and later in academies!
I was not an easy student so i changed schools always looking for the right place!
I danced in 2 companies, first in Berlin at the Staatsballett and from 1996 till 2000 in a smaller company in Hagen!
In a way i enjoyed dancing but many of my dreams as a dancer didn't come true and out of that frustration i started my first choreography with colleagues!
Tell us about your experience as a choreographer/director in the different theaters and companies
So the journey started later as a young choreographer with Stuttgart Ballet!
Looking back it feels like a great and innocent time to go from piece to piece because you get something back from many people!
In younger years you just do and don't feel the pleasure of doing something good or important ,that comes later.
Travelling and doing choreographies in different places is a pleasure because you just share a very deep moment for some time with the dancers and after that it comes to a goodbye.
To be a director is of course different! You see the people you work with every day over years and as we all know there are ups and downs, means you come closer and have to function in many ways. I would say you have to manage a family.
From where do you take inspiration for your choreographies?
My inspiration i never analysed!
I am inspired by everything, i guess that has to do with being open to every little thing that there is around! From wind to eyes ,from the sky to a leaf, whatever!
Being awake like a child!
As a choreographer, what was the biggest challenge you faced?
The biggest challenge is to go into the studio and start a new piece!
Tell us about your most recent creation
At the moment there is no creation.
I start in October again and i need some time without it.
Is there a creation that make you proud?
There is a moment after every piece I finished, I wouldn't call it proud ,but a bit maybe, that we made it to put something together.
What are your future plans?
In the future i will do many pieces but some are not now officially announced!
Which advice would you give to the young dancers?
I am impressed by so many young people who are willing to dance!
Just be patient and as long as you give all and your best, something will get back to you!
What are you doing when you are not working?
I don't do much but i am never bored cause i am awake and curious in everything!
